Texas Chainsaw 3D

I had wanted to watch this movie for months and finally I got some time today to watch it only to laugh out loud smothering my frustration on how the film makers have ruined a cult classic franchise.

It is becoming more and more common these days especially with the technological advancements in the name of 3D which has only brought out a great amount of distraction among movie makers. They stupidly believe that 3D effects and a few moments of cheap thrills and some eye candy voluptuous female casts would get the viewers to enjoy the movie...

Texas Chainsaw 3D is the best example and I for one fan of the original movie and the sequel watched it as a normal movie at home which even took off what I feel as the only aspect the film crew had focused on.

The story was so bad, clichéd and morbidly boring and watching the characters play and do their roles made me to think that probably the director was trying to give us a SPOOF movie??

Come on man, how stupid can your characters be? A story teller should know his audience. Even kids nowadays do not believe in fairy tales and uncommon, unnatural characterizations.

The sheriff holding a gun up against his chest and just viewing a brutal murder at the climax, the adopted girl writing MURDERERS on the photos of the people who killed a family that was protecting a murderer, and then running away to team up with the chainsaw murderer who even tried to kill her for the majority of the time... how much more ridiculous can it get?

At the end of the movie, I was sad not because it ended... but because I felt deeply insulted as a horror movie fan. And I came to know that this was the first installment of a series from the same team!!! God save the movie watching fraternity.

Why is it that I just cant get to like some fantasy movies?!?

I tried to watch Legend of the Guardians, could not go past half the movie. Maybe I was not focussing, maybe I was not in a mood to watch a movie. But on a Saturday morning that is what I do! Still if I cant enjoy the movie, I dont know why! No offence meant towards Zack Snyder - '300' is one of the BEST movies ever. And I am seriously looking forward to his rumored Superman movie. That is the reason why I want to enjoy this one - but cant!!!

But I have had the same experience with a few other movies in the past. And there seems to be a pattern. I was never able to watch any of the Narnia movies. Honestly I tried, tried hard after my sister was raving about it. Still I just could not. Never found it interesting! I just saw the FIRST Harry Potter movie because one of my friends literally was breathing down my neck making me read it. I did not enjoy the Pirates of the Caribbean except for of course Johnny Depp. I never even gave the LOTR a try! I could not even stand the commercials! I remember going to the theaters to watch this movie - Pan's Labryrinth. While every one of my friends liked it, I could not stay awake for more than 20 minutes through the movie. Same thing - Till this day I have not been able to stay awake watching ANY of the Tim Burton movies!

Is it just that I do not like some sort of animated movies? NO!!! I love Shrek and the Ice Age and almost every Pixar movie. The Incredibles was really incredible. On the same day that I could not bear to watch the Legend of Guardians, I watched Alpha and Omega and found it SO VERY ENJOYABLE! The week before I saw Despicable Me which I found to be fantastic! Also by being a BIG COMIC BOOK buff, I enjoyed the Warner Brother creation of Batman, Superman and the Justice League and keep watching them over and over again. I liked the way they made Batman, my favorite superhero - especially with all the dark theme and cold voice and the stylish way in which he keeps vanishing like a ghost. I think that was what Christopher Nolan took off from in his amazing Batman Returns and Dark Knight.

So the bottomline is this, instead of trying to research why I did not enjoy some of the movies, I just have them with me, because at some point I might be able to see what others see - the class in all those movies. I am sure they would be averaging above 7 or 8 on IMDb. Its just a matter of time before I start loving them...

My Cousin Vinny

I watched this movie for the first time last week on TBS. And I have watched it on almost everytime it was played again. I dont know how I never came across this classic movie earlier. It is a brilliant comedy and Joe Pesci is fantastic and so is the ENTIRE cast. Seriously - its extremely rare to find a movie in which EVERY single character big or small, performing this well.

Just watch this scene, notice the judge, the members of jury, the witnesses, the defendants as the defense counsellor spews his opening statement. Hilarious!!!

After Joe Pesci, if I was asked to pick the next best funniest character in the movie, I would blindly choose the Judge played by Fred Gwynne. Every single line of his dialog, however simple it may be, he delivers it in such an enjoyable manner. Just watch him deliver this simple line - "Counsellor... your statement sir."

I enjoy movies with courtroom scenes. Most of the movies I have in this blog would be mainly because of that. BUT a movie where the courtroom itself is made the stage for all the humor - WOW! The movie is every bit as intelligent as funny it is.

My Favorite Movie Quotes - Billy Madison

This is a very inspiring movie - inspiring you to be crazy and do insanely humurous things. And needless to say - full of funny dialog and goofy quotes.

Was watching this movie on TV today, not sure how many times I have seen this movie before but still would watch it again and again. No doubt.

Adam Sandler is funny as ever BUT somehow the Principal gets the BEST funniest dialog of the movie!

In the climax where Billy is asked to talk about Industrial Revolution, he talks about some bullshit story about a puppy that gets lost in the woods and tries to relate that with how the Industry is the puppy and how it got lost... An AWESTRUCK principal says this.. probably the most hilarious quote of all time cinema:

Principal: Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Billy Madison: Okay, a simple WRONG would've done just fine.

My Favorite Movie Quotes - Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps

Just like the original movie, this one is full of fantastic dialog.

Michael Douglas ROCKS! Seriously wish him good luck with what he is fighting.

He is as flamboyant as ever and has some of the most memorable quotes for us:

Gordon Gekko: Someone reminded me I once said "Greed is good". Now it seems it's legal.

Gordon Gekko: The mother of all evil is speculation.

Gordon Gekko: Bulls make money. Bears make money. Pigs... They get slaughtered.

Gordon Gekko: Stop telling lies about me and I'll stop telling the truth about you.

Gordon Gekko: Quotes - "Parents are the bone on which children sharpen their teeth."

Finally...
Gordon Gekko: Money is a bitch that never sleeps!

It took me to those days in September 2008 when everyone at office was looking at the headlines and reading what was in store;

Will there be a bailout? Have we lost our jobs?

People would be making jokes just to conceal their nervousness.

Anyways, great movie. I loved it just for Michael Douglas.

Skyline

This movie is in most peoples bottom of the list 2010 movies not without reason. It shamelessly begs, borrows AND steals from almost every alien movie made so far. Even the music lacks originality. Just like most of the others, I watched it ONLY to see the CGI and that is All that I got. So I cant complain about that. But I had lowered my expectations, thats why.

Kids who do not care about the script or the story or the class and just want to watch some gleaming graphics and some gruesome alien fighting would probably watch this movie.

Too many technically incorrect g;itches and potholes in the script. And totally uninteresting story telling. This movie really sucks bigtime. In the climax they showed some signs of continuing this into a sequel! If that is true it is only the height of audacity!
